  • Relaunch Xanga!

    Hey!

    C'mon!

    Quit moaning!

    Relaunch Xanga!

The only way to find out what the new xanga might be is to contribute!

If they don't make their goal you get to keep your money!

    Go for it!

(Edit: $48 per year is like 13 cents a day! A soft drink is like 75 cents! It's worth it!)

  • Gooo Donkey! Goooo Xanga!

  • Lots of people don't have the money. :( I don't.

  • we are broke

but i do hope it gets saved

  • 13 cents a day! If you have a soft drink a day - you could switch to a cheaper one and buy xanga!

  • I'm in love with xangaandam planning on staying - even if I have to pay to play.  I'm still on vacation but I'm planning on taking care of business when I get home!

  • I think it's a pipe dream. Even if all the active users paid the $48, I still think they'd come up short. Truth is, if Team Xanga REALLY wanted to save Xanga, they would have found a way to do it long ago, and not in such a desperate way.

  • I've donated, you?

  • Im still debating. I really love it here, just not sure I want to pay to write my thoughts down. Not sure I want to pay for my continued friendships. For me anyways, its not about if I can afford it. I've 'thrown' away money before, and on worse things than this.

  • LOL I claim my lifetime membership...until Xanga goes down the abyss of darkness.

  • I have enjoyed reading your entries over the last couple of years.

I been working out how much a can of coke cost in the UK on average 75p for a 330ml (33cl) a bottle of coke (but some stores 4 for £1) 2 litres or 2000cl can be as much as £2.00

If Xanga does fold I could always write postcards, even though sending them will cost the same as the can of coke.

  • up to I saw the receipt for $8599, I have faith ...that...my father in law could realy erning money in their spare time on-line.. there friend brother haz done this 4 only 8 months and just now cleared the depts on there place and bought a gorgeous Lotus Elan. read more at, http://www.rev24.com

  • Even on a fixed, very sparse income, I can afford to pay double my Premium just to keep the blogging going. I sometimes write in a journal, but on Xanga those occasions when I get feedback, it helps keep my gray cells operating and opens other ideas to me from friends. Xanga is enjoyable at least.

  • I like Xanga a lot but they locked me out of my site and I was never able to get back in, even after I contacted them. Then they had the nerve to ask me to pay for Premium again on my new site. Sooo.... I don't feel all that enthusiastic about about giving them money.

  • I have mixed thoughts. On the one hand I have a lot of time invested in my blogs. I bought lifetime premium when it was available, a real steal, and a blunder on Team Xanga's part if you ask me. I am tempted to make a pledge, just because Xanga has offered me so much over the years. Then I ask myself, what kind of business plan are they following if they can't remain solvent?

Is Xanga an NPO? Should we treat them like NPR and make annual pledges, let those who have a little extra cash and want to support Xanga contribute more so those who can't or won't still can enjoy the "programing"?

I just don't know. Should they have more advertising? How is it Facebook is so successful, where Xanga struggles? Maybe they need to examine their business plan a little more closely and look at their profit and loss statements with greater scrutiny. I just don't know. I will make a pledge eventually, but it won't likely be enough. I can't decide how much I am willing to put into it, a few bucks? A few hundred? A grand? I can use the money for other things... Is it worth investing in Xanga? How much?

Maybe I can donate a painting and they can auction it. When is the deadline again? Would they even want to try to auction off a painting? So many questions!

Dang it donkey, I need answers!!!

  • I pledged for a year yesterday, I hope it works!

  • @seedsower - Me too! it won't be the seem - new - different! There will likely be old things we miss and new things to ponder!

  • @Aloysius_son - $48! That's the answer! If they don't make their goal of $60,000 by July 15, you get to keep your $48. I am willing to invest for the first year just to see what happens! If a year from now I don't see the value - I can always do something else!

  • What they need is to go make a Kickstarter! People who pledge get different rewards like tshirts, or premium, and wahlah they might just make their goal. If they don't Kickstarter doesn't charge the money til the end date, and no one gets charged.

  • Lets do it we can save xanga, xanga may not be perfect, but I am sure it could be better if we could save them at least we still hv chances!!! I just pledge yesterday !!! Lets do it guys!!!!

  • @Aloysius_son - You are not an internet guy so in a nutshell a lot of companies with old programming are paying royalties for an obsolete program to Microsoft.

WordPress is an open programing style that is easier to program and reconfigure. The heavy duty servers that xanga is using costs too much money. Xanga has to move to a completely new system that is "cheaper".

Back in the days google paid for a lot of the free subscribers who have their ads on their blogs. Google has cut back on the money they used to pay because there are less new readers here at xanga.

  • HEre's a thought for everyone.

Either way, WE FACE CHANGE. Why not try and face the change TOGETHER! Learn the new xanga, TOGETHER. we all bail ship, give up easily, don't even try, scatter like cock roaches, try and find each other like idiots and then juggle like a million different stupid blogs.

    I mean, c'mon!!

  • I wish I could edit and share that comment. I'm very heated right now

  • But a softdrink a day could be bad for your teeth. lol Kidding and yes, I brush twice daily.

  • I am sorry, but I am not going to pay money for a blog that I only update twice a month if that... I was more active in the past when xanga was active.. And alive.. I mean they obviously lost bloggers for a reason.. Maybe they should have figured that out and tried to fix it. You're asking to revive a dead community... And to make the community.. And paid dead community... Good luck with that plan.

  • @devour_my_broken_soul - Well - if you don't really want to blog anyway - what's your problem? You can post on facebook or any of the free sites, and apparently you would be able to have a free xanga account and comment and visit other xanga sites in the new model. If you don't like the stuff or people here - of course - why pay?

Facebook and twitter and the like are probably one of the big reasons they lost users. It's much easier to post a simple status there. or a single photo. But that's not blogging. If you want to blog - you need a decent blogging site - and it helps to have a built in community! I have seen countless people go off and start their only little blogs and guess what - no one follows them!

Go over to facebook and try to produce a coherent blog post with text interspersed with multiple photographs - or you own HTML code for formatting the text into tables! Good luck!

  • @Donkey_Guy_10 -  It's not an issue of not wanting to... It's this thing called life.. And having alters... That take up most of your spare time... Regardless, I am not going to donate money to turn xanga into a paid site... Which I nor my alters will use on a regular basis... The community is falling apart... And there's other free places to go that isn't as dead as this one...

And just for the record... Blogging to me isn't about "followers". If you want followers.. Go to Twitter... And write piss poor status updates about what you ate for dinner, that your kid threw up... Or that you took a nasty shit. I write when I want to... And how I want to.. For me... Not for a little internet fan club... I don't write to feel important to strangers on the interweb... Because what use is internet... Popularity?... There isn't any...

But I am not going to argue. You do your thing, and I'll do mine... After all... It's just a blogging website... I hope everyone who stays and pays for this new service finds it to their liking... I'm quite happy just to move on.

  • @devour_my_broken_soul - Success to you then! I hope you find something good!
