Chocolate Pudding
Just like Mom used to make!
From Wikipedia:Chocolate pudding is a class of dessert with chocolate flavors. There are two main types: a boiled then chilled, texturally a custard set with starch, version commonly eaten in the U.S., Canada, and East and South East Asia; and a steamed/baked, texturally similar to cake, version that is popular in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The US/Canada and Asian version is one of the most common varieties of sweet or dessert pudding served in these countries. It is usually eaten as a snack or dessert. It is also used as a filling for chocolate pie.
Historically, it is a variation on chocolate custard, with starch used as thickener rather than eggs. Early versions of the dish using both egg and flour can be found in the 1918 edition of Fannie Farmer's Boston Cooking School Cook Book and in the 1903 edition of Mary Harris Frazer's Kentucky Receipt Book.
In the late 19th and early 20th century, chocolate pudding was thought of as an appropriate food for invalids or children as well as a dessert. It was not considered a health food in the modern sense of the term, but as a wholesome, high-calorie food for those with poor appetites due to ill-health. General Foods (Jell-O) introduced chocolate pudding mix in 1934 as "Walter Baker's Dessert". It was renamed "Jell-O Chocolate Pudding" in 1936.Some pudding looks better then others - but taste is the true test!
I remember the one's mom used to make had a "skin" on the top. As a kid, I never liked the skin, but later on I realized it was chocolate, too, so what the heck!Yum!
Oh! Xanga retirement and fishing was a pain in the a$$, so I gave it up!
When was the last time you had chocolate pudding? Do you like with or without the skin?

Hi Donkey. It's been awhile since I've tried pudding other than the pre-made stuff. Can't remember when, but I don't like the skin on the home-made cooked variety. I do however like whipped creme on mine.
Man... That looks good !!!
Where is the whipped cream?
ahhhh, chocolate!
I actually think the skin is nasty! ha! It keeps me from eating pudding to much. Sometimes the texture doesn't make me too happy, even if it is chocolate. lol go figure!
Haha, that picture of you and the fishing pole!!
don't care much for skin
i do love chocolate pudding
I love chocolate pudding, especially in a pie crust--ok that's technically a pie. If you put enough whipped cream on it, the skin doesn't form!
I'm a fan of the skin and the pudding underneath! In my husband's family serving chocolate pudding means you have an announcement - either an engagement or a pregnancy. We used to have pudding more often. It has been about 1.5 years since the last pudding announcement! I'm hoping the nieces and nephews can cook up some pudding soon...
We all like the skin. My kids used to fight over it.
My fav! Hi, Welcome back and thanks for visiting my site again! God speed, ~ Pete

My TV dinner had chocolate pudding. No skin on it but it went well with the fish sticks and macaroni and cheese.
So donkey guy are you returning to your old ways here at xanga or you were just being ambitious?
There one thousand and one ways to use the chocolate and it always is a delight ! In the family we are all fans of chocolate .
Your seaguls make me think of a xangasite that I read recently. I am going to give you the link below

I love pudding, although I don't eat it really often. I buy the ready-made variety. But when I read your post, I remember well the pudding that my mom made -- that had the skin on it. I didn't care for it then, as I recall. You made me want to make it from scratch! And I love the puns!
