Ice Cream Sandwich
There is something about an ice cream sandwich...
When I was in grade school, years ago, I could buy one after lunch for 5 cents!
Then one year, the price went up to 10 cents!
It was horrible! My mom would not give me 10 cents for one!
I still love ice cream sandwiches!
What was your favorite dessert after lunch in grade school?

Mine was also Ice Cream Sandwiches in middle school/junior high. In high school we had chocolate milk shakes, and those were pretty good, too.
Yup! A nice thick chocolate shake is great too!
We didn't have i.c. sandwiches, but I do really like them. I'd better buy some before summer is completely over.
Yeah! Better buy some! Quick!
we usually had cookies and milk or fruit...
Cookies! OK! Fruit?!? That's not dessert - that's real food! They were so MEAN! Unless is peach cobbler!
I didn't get dessert. Occasionally though on really special occasions I might get a raspberry zinger or a dingdong.
I liked the zingers.
A raspberry zinger eh? Or a diongdong? Yum!
Yum! I love ice cream sandwiches!

I didn't get to buy lunches in elementary...I took lunch from home, so it was usually cookies or fruit off of the fruit trees in the back yard. Ha! The fruit was off the trees! We didn't have a cookie tree!
In High School, I liked buying a chocolate shake once in awhile...they were a lot like a Frosty and very yummy!
HUGS!!! And may there be an ice cream sandwich in your near future, Donkey-Dude!
Thanks! Yum!
Never had a ice cream sandwich.
I remember having apple crumble
Apple crumble sounds good...
the only dessert I can remember from elementary school was peanut butter cookies...I don't think they had nut allergies back in the day
but we could get an extra glass of milk for 3 (dang - shouldn't there be a cent symbol somewhere) cents, and the milk came out of a big stainless steal dispenser not in paper cartons, good thing we didn't cry over spilt milk...http://mlbncsga.xanga.com/
Yeah! Where did all these nut and peanut allergies come from?
my daughter loves those...
hmmm, after school snack? Well... I can't remember what i snakced on after grade school, but it was either cookies or a candy bar, in jr high and high school
So does she ask for them when she goes to the store with you? Kids!
My mom would have the milk truck bring vanilla ice cream. That's the one my dad liked, so we all liked it, right? I put chocolate syrup on it. It was heaven!
Oh! Yeah! The milk truck! That was back when most families had one car - the dad would take it to work - and mom would stay at home with the kids - and the milk man would deliver fresh milk to an insulated box near the front porch. Neighborhood moms would often gather at a neighbor's house for coffee on a weekday morning after kids were off to school. The "good ole days"? Well - things were different then!
I think my favorite after school snack was cheese and crackers but then I'm biased because I'm from Wisconsin
Well - it might have been kinda cold for ice cream sandwiches much of the school year in Wisconsin! At the time I lived in southern Illinois. It was a little warmer there. I remember the schools would have "ice cream socials" once or twice a year.
50/50 bar (ice cream sandwiches were a close second)
Cool!
Ice Cream sandwich... I love when the outside is crunchy and the inside is soft, the best!
Yes! Nice firm outside and soft inside! Yum!
Passing on some important information:
Name Link not Working?
If you notice that names in comments are no longer clickable and the avatars lead to a ‘not found’ page, do this: Top right, of your screen where your cute lil avatar is, chose Edit Profile. Scroll through and look for the space next to Website. Add in your xanga address (eg. http://myname.xanga.com) and this make it so that your name becomes a clickable link. It still does not work with your avatar image however.
Try this! It worked for me!
HUGS!!!
Thanks!!!
And as an addition - if you have underscores in your user name - change them to dashes...
Not one of my favorites, but I don't ever remember eating one I didn't like.
It must have been your favorite!
I don't remember icecream at school until middle or Highschool. I liked the huge chocolate chip cookies though.
After school when I got home, there was a time when I'd take a mozarella cheese stick and melt it just slightly in the microwave to give it a more buttery taste, with crispy edges. mmm. Peanut butter on Ritz crackers was good too though.
Yum!
