Internet Statistics and Facts
Is it true that 90% of the statistics on the Internet are made up?
Can you believe what you read and see on the Internet?

Do you know if the person you are chatting with on the internet looks more like this - like their profile picture indicates?

Or do they really look more like this?
Do you believe stuff you read on wikipedia, snopes, factcheck, urbandictionary and other popular reference sites? If not, why not?
If you use one of these sites, do you check their references?
What do you think?

Question everything!
Ha! I was first!
If something is from a source I trust, I believe it. Otherwise, I take it with a grain of salt.
@murisopsis - Agree. I listen to people I trust. I listen to politicians too. Sometimes they play both sides with words.
One must never trust a single source. One can only trust statistics if they gathered the numbers and made the calculations themselves. There's always footnotes about what data wasn't used (because it would have made it look less favorable). If one source says one thing, and another source says another, in regards to statistics, then you know they both can't be right (unless you pay attention to the footnotes about what data they selectively decided to toss out). And lord, I hope the person I'm talking to doesn't look like their profile pic!
I check stories and rumors that get reposted on Facebook. There are a lot out there that have no substantiation at all. I generally trust snopes, and wikipedia is a good starting point but not the last word, especially if the article sounds like it was written by a PR person for a product or person or point of view.
I use to believe everything anyone said...then I grew up and found out most everyone tells you just what you want to hear or what they want you to believe....then I met @Roadkill_Spatula - and learned about snopes. Now I only believe what I hear and see to be true!
I expect most people are half right, but the part they are right about is completely debatable, lol. I usually believe snopes. That's it!
I believe everything I read, unless of course I wrote it.
I believe everything Al_Son says. Do you believe that?
If it interests me I'll research it. I select what I read from sources I've checked out.
Is that second picture Lobo? Er... Curtis?
I been told not to trust certain websites, scary stuff.
