I do only because he was kind of a gathering pole. His absence is glaring.

although I didn't always gee haw with Dan I do realize that he is or was an important sounding board for many many xangans, he started things up,I do miss him just like I miss many of the left behinds...but I don't miss all of the left behinds.
I actually looked at his blog maybe twice. I never saw the point of adding my comment to dozens of others. He was the Jerry Springer of Xanga.
Years ago I read his blog, but lately I hadn't bothered. I think he should come back though.

I do! Well... I miss the questions he posed in the early days. There were some good discussions / arguments back then. Aside from two or three informational posts (about blog traffic, etc), he hasn't really done anything of interest the last couple of years. Seemed like he had a good platform that could have been used to produce something of much greater value.

No, not at all. A couple years ago he made an April Fools post about his wife having a miscarriage. To any woman who has lived that- there is nothing remotely funny about it. It's actually one of the hardest things for a woman to go through. It was so heartless and inconsiderate that I never went back to his blog. A person who can be that cruel is not a person worth following.
He posted some odd things, and perhaps some people would stick around but I doubt that would be their only reason. Most of his posts drew in some crazy comments.
It is probably my fault. I subscribed to him and then he disappeared!

absolutely not. the primary reason he came to rest and stay (temporarily) here was to generate 'hits/traffic' that he would then translate into $ for himself. it wasn't about nurturing any sense of community - xanga existed before egodan - and in some form (or maybe not) xanga will continue its wobbly orbit without... nothing in life is certain.
Just like I read the yahoo articles for the comments, so did I visit xanga mostly for Dan's posts...and the ensuing commentary.
Seems like the later posts were often about some sort of odd sexual stuff...that was getting old. I do miss those thought provoking ones from earlier

No, not at all. I went to his site a few times. I said to myself "what is all the fuss about?" I could not figure out the attraction - why so many went to his site & commented. It made me smile to realize he has jumped ship.
Poor Dan. It sucks that his tumor came back.
I didn't read him but he seemed to be a fixture here on xanga and had quite the following. It just seems strange that he would up and leave but I don't know the reason he just vanished.

I do; it was kind of a gathering post, an interesting sounding board...enjoyed his questions that got some good discussion going. Some of his humor was good, too, although got more snarky in later years. Did he remove his site completely?
