  • Circles Again

Have you ever noticed how life goes in circles?

From breathing in to breathing out and then in again...

To the day and then night and then day again...

To the changing of the seasons, from spring, to summer, to fall, to winter, to spring again...

    Life goes in circles...

    Again and again...

    Another Seedsower Picture

When I was a kid, for 6 years I lived in a city across the river from St.Louis, in Illinois.

It was a pretty town - one of the oldest in Illinois.

Route 66 was still in use at the time.

My walk to school often took me several blocks down route 66.

The old Chain of Rocks Bridge was part of Route 66 - crossing the Mississippi River to St. Louis.

I have been up in the arch and across the Chain of Rocks Bridge!

    Long ago...

I wonder if I will ever get back there...

Dead Turkey Joke of the Day

    Circle Flies

After pulling a farmer over for speeding, a state trooper started to lecture him about his speed, pompously implying that the farmer didn't know any better and trying to make him feel as uncomfortable as possible. He finally started writing out the ticket, but had to keep swatting at some flies buzzing around his head.

The farmer said, "Having some problems with circle flies there are ya?"

The trooper paused to take another swat and said, "Well, yes, if that's what they are. I've never heard of circle flies."

The farmer was pleased to enlighten the cop. "Circle flies are common on farms. They're called circle flies because you almost always find them circling the back end of a horse."

The trooper continues writing for a moment, then says," Hey, are you trying to call me a horse's behind?"

"Oh no, officer." The farmer replies. "I have too much respect for law enforcement and police officers for that."

"That's a good thing," the officer says rudely, then goes back to writing the ticket.

After a long pause, the farmer added, "Hard to fool them flies, though."

  • I love all the pictures!Life is just... strange.

  • A wonderful set of photos of life in circles!  And the @seedsower shot is great, too!  I saw the arch shortly before floods came all the way up the steps at the bottom!  How is the Chain of Rocks bridge holding up to the flooding that has gone on over the years?

  • the pictures are great...circles are for breathing...erm...then we have the medicine wheel, that is a circle...there is the circle of life...be safe and try to stay cool...

  • donkey is a great philosopher ;)

  • ROFLMAO, that circle flies joke was AWESOME!!!Loved the pics also. The Chain of Rocks Bridge is really interesting. Do you mean you walked across the river by way of the top of the bridge . . .above where the trains cross? What is the building to the left of the bridge? That looks like it would be difficult to get to, unless there are stairs out of view that a boat could pull up next too.

  • @olwd - Well skip that idea of the trains, not sure why I thought it was a bridge for trains. That is a pretty long bridge. Would love to ride a bike across it someday.

  • HA! Now I'm replying to myself, oh can this day get any weirder? Oh wait, donkeys telling stories, nevermind, it's officially weird now. heheheheBIG HUGZ Donkey!

  • hey, what goes around comes around

  • History tends to repeat itself too

  • I enjoyed the pics.

  • @olwd - Oh! The bridge was originally for automobile traffic. I rode in a car across that bridge when I was a little guy! They have since closed the bridge to car traffic. I guess you can walk across it now!

  • @Donkey_Guy_10 - Yea, I read the link on Wiki. Guess you're just young at heart then, eh Donkey?

  • my life goes in triangles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have been thinking about what you said yesterday, and Now I am wondering if it is now yet? OR Will it be now later? AND IF it is now now AND Now later when will it be later? AND If it becomes later what happens to the now that is now? Does it follow us into later or does it stay now?I want answers and I want them NOW!
