  • Freedom

    What is freedom?

Freedom is the right to act according to ones will without being held up by the power of others. From a philosophical point of view, it can be defined as the capacity to determine your own choices. It can be defined negatively as an absence of subordination, servitude and constraint. - wikipedia

They put a lot of freedom symbols on coins.

    Like the Liberty Bell.

Or the "Walking Liberty" half dollar.

Dead Turkey Joke of the Day

Bill was short of money and was out looking for a job. Pastor Nelson offered Bill $500 to buy paint and paint the church. Well Bill went out bough some paint and started painting the church. He discovered that he was using more paint than he expected so the added some thinner to the paint, well it is still covered but not as well as it did at first. Well he still was using more paint than he wanted to use so he added still more thinner to the paint. Well the paint was too thin cover well but Bill still kept on painting. All of a sudden there was a bolt of lighting and a loud voice from the sky proclaimed, "Repaint and thin no more."

  • Freedom can include servitude. Jesus models true freedom to us as the ultimate servant who laid down His life as the obedient son. We have the ability to choose to follow his example or to be a slave to sin.

Hence we have the freedom or ability to choose to be slaves to God or slaves to sin.

  • A gas station....

Freedom is something we are giving up more and more in this country..

The only true freedom is in Christ Jesus.

  • Freedom is listening to the music of my choice with no one drowning out the good stuff with their "music".

  • oooOOOOoooo!  I LOVE that butterfly picture.  Looks like freedom to me!!

  • Absolute freedom comes from within. For there will always be restrictions, boundries and oppression around us. It is our own ability to navigate through the obsticals which truly sets us free.

  • To me, real freedom comes when I give up my life, my will, my plans and let God take over.

  • A lot of people don't have much freetime. When confronted with time that is not allocated we claim that we have the freedom to chose what to do during that time.

A prisoner in prison will be missing the freedom of not being incarcerated. When release after serving his time that is called freedom. If under supervision that is freedom under parole.

Sometimes a slave is granted freedom. Either by escaping or by being bought by a person to end that period of slavery. Yes some people are slaves to sin. Jesus can buy freedom (stopping a person's slavery to sin) but it is still up to the slave of sin to renounce the sin that he dwells in and try hard to stop giving into that sin.

  • For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.
    ~Nelson Mandela

there I hope this settles this once and for all...smile
